# Printing text with fonts

Photoshop can open and print documents in the most popular formats, including PDF (Portable Document Format) and TIFF (Tagged Image File Format). Both of these formats contain font information, so a font file, like the ones included in this book, can be embedded into a TIFF or PDF file. Some of the most important characters in text are the letters E, U, O, P, and space.

By using the Photoshop **Text tool**, you can add text to an image, specify font color and size, and place text using a few methods. The image shown in Figure 5-5 shows a landscape-oriented photograph of an interior.

You can use the Text tool to place text on an image or to replace existing text. You can also resize an existing text layer or add new text using various tools.

To add text, follow these steps:

1. **Open your image in Photoshop.**

If you don’t have an image open, you can create a new document by choosing File⇒New.

2. **Choose the Text tool from the Tools panel.**

You can also access the text tool via the text icon at the bottom of the Tools panel (Figure 5-6).

3. **Move the cursor over the image where you want to add text and place it on the image, where you want it to appear, using the up and down arrows on the keyboard.**

Point the cursor at the top of the page. The image moves as the text in the image moves. Make sure that you position the cursor above the area where you want the text to appear. To place text on a new layer and edit the text later, you must first select the layer. The technique for placing text on a layer is as follows:

1. **In a document or file, click once in the area that you want to place the text.

Djibo James Wakayo Assensoh (born 14 January 1954) is a Nigerian politician who was elected as a Senator for Kogi West Senatorial District on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy. He was appointed as a member of a committee to review the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Federal Government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Assensoh, a lawyer, was born in Adeje, Lagos State, Nigeria. He was the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party for a seat in the Nigerian House of Representatives in the Adeje electoral district, but he lost to the All Progressives Congress candidate.

He contested the seat for a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly in Kogi Central in the February 21, 2007 governorship election, which he won. His party appealed the election, but the result was upheld by the Independent Electoral Commission on May 22, 2007.

Assensoh was elected as a member of the Senate in June 2007. In October 2007, Governor Godwin Obaseki recommended to the Senate that N60 million should be allocated for the rehabilitation of Kogi West Senatorial District. Assensoh argued that the funds should instead be used to rehabilitate the whole of Kogi West Senatorial District. Governor Obaseki vetoed the amendment to the Finance Bill.

As a senator, Assensoh was chairman of the Committee on State Government (2009) and the Committee on Local and International Organisations (2009–10). He was also on the Committee on Education (2009–10); the Committee on Transport and the Committee on Energy.

He was appointed Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Government, Housing and Urban Development in July 2011.
