OOLog Activation Code Free [Mac/Win] (Latest)

The Overlooked Objects Log (OOLog) is a finder chart of overlooked astronomical objects.

These objects include the Blue Snowball, Saturn Nebula, Owl Cluster, Veil Nebula, North American Nebula and other worthwhile sights. While many of these objects are beyond the reach of smaller scopes, some can be seen without a scope at all! (i.e., The North American Nebula.) And one object, the black hole Cygnus X-1 cannot be seen with any visual scope and is included as sort of a curiousity.

“The OOLog is designed to help keep up to date with the various overlookable objects in the night sky. This finder chart is updated quarterly with new sightings. It is a must for night sky enthusiasts!
By using the finder chart for the current month, you will find the current state of the data for the objects shown.”

I bought this a couple of years ago, but never used it. It’s nice but it doesn’t show Vega if I have a clear-sky window. I’m not sure if this is a function in the software or if it’s just the settings.

From February 2012…
“To correct the brightness of the Vega Star, you have to give extra information to the finder program. Here are the informations that you should add to the Vega Star in the finder chart.
The Star Name : Vega (used in some programs to indicate it)
Radius : 0.07
R.A. : 23.62 (Vega is at the center of the Milky Way)
Dec : +13.2″
This correction was made to improve the galactic centre picture of this finder chart.”

I have used this finder chart for over a year and there have been a lot of improvements and bug fixes. In fact, I find it invaluable for finding the constellation of the Orion Nebula.

It is important to note that the actual name used for the object may be slightly different in different computer programs, such as the object named “NGC 2010” by Marvin in the software below:

.On the other hand, Marvin found the object named “SNR 049.1” when he was searching for the North American Nebula.

What’s New In OOLog?

=================

OOLog is a finder chart of the most interesting celestial objects. Some are well-known. Others are more obscure, but still out there. Some take a little work. But these are objects worth looking for.

This webpage will contain an inventory of all the objects in the the OOLog of discovered.
Each object will be linked to the page on the CADC (or SEDA) of that object and any other page that might be useful.

Sources for finding the objects included in OOLog (I use data from the Naval Observatory Circulars, and wikipedia):

OLOG Strategy:
=============

To maximize the number of objects you can see, and minimize the amount of star gazing you have to do:

Obscure the date and time.
Get an advanced look before your observing session begins.
Get a good-quality star map and some star/moon guides.

The good thing about seeing an object for the first time on a new night, is that the all the stars are new and the objects aren’t. On a night when the Moon is about the same brightness as the stars, there are more stars and more “new” ones. The fainter objects look almost like “new” things.

Some of the objects are just the necessary tools to locate them for the most efficient star gazing:

The North American Nebula is a BIG object. You need a good visual guide to the important constellations and star clusters in its vicinity. That’s what this page is all about.
The Veil Nebula is the first star formation nebula you see coming out of the plane of the Milky Way. I include the Dark Nucleus to help find it.
The Saturn Nebula is a star with a green house star beside it. Saturn is the second planet from the Sun, and therefore the Sun is just a bit brighter than Jupiter in the night sky (at that distance).
The M74 globular cluster is a very large Globular Cluster, often observed by observing the light of the Pleiades or Ald
